Better Materials, Lower Impact

Better Materials, Lower Impact

At Huha, our mission is to make breathable base layers that solve problems for real bodies.

But how we do that matters.

What sustainability means to us

For us, sustainability isn't about buzzwords or trends. It's about designing functional products that actually solve problems—creating solutions, not waste.

Too often, women have to settle for poor underwear designs and suffocating synthetics. Not great for our bodies or the planet.

We're committed to changing that.

From trees to threads

Our fabrics are primarily made with TENCEL™ Modal & Lyocell. These are both made from cellulose—the structural fiber of trees!

You hear us rave about our tree fibers for their breathability, moisture and temperature control benefits, and their super-soft feel. But TENCEL™ is also widely celebrated as a sustainable choice—earning the EU Ecolabel for environmental excellence.

This label is awarded to textile products that have reduced environmental impact across their lifecycle. For TENCEL™, this starts with sourcing raw wood material from only sustainably-managed or controlled forests that meet the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) or PEFC standards.

Close the loop

Our signature mineral lining is made with TENCEL™ Lyocell—known not just for its superior breathability, but also the closed loop process used to make it.

This means that more than 99% of the water and non-toxic solvent used to process the wood pulp into a useable fiber is recovered and reused in the next cycle—resulting in close-to-zero wastage.

Safety First

All our materials—from fabric to thread to dyes—are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. Translation: They're tested and certified free of over 1000 harmful chemicals commonly found in the textile industry and safe for direct-to-skin contact.

Because you deserve to feel good about what you wear closest to your body.

Always Learning, Always Evolving

We’re always keeping tabs on new innovations and developments that push the industry in a more sustainable direction. At the same time, we think it's important to continuously examine our own practices to see where we can improve.

For example...

We originally opted for compostable mailers and recyclable paper envelopes to ship our undies. But with very few accessible composting facilities in the US and some helpful feedback from our community, we realized a lot of our mailers were likely being thrown in the trash.

So, we made the switch to a fully recyclable mailer made of 80% recycled materials.

Bonus: With this mailer, there's no longer a need for the extra paper envelope!

At Huha, we strive to evolve intentionally, looking to our community as a guiding light. When it comes to sustainability, we're in this together—so if there's a practice or innovation you'd like us to explore, let us know.
